What meds to treat this soar ??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't even use salt on a permanent basis or even during cycling process unless you are treating for something. There's no point adding it. You only risk producing salt resistant strains of parasites that will make it equally harder for you to eliminate them having to resort to harsher chemicals that will also prove fatal to your fish.

Please help.
I posted about a soar on my oscar, treated as suggested and the soar has gotten worse. you can see the 1st set of pix and new pix.
The soar in detail is a bit smaller then a dime, soft tissue pushing out of the soar.
Treatment until now:
in as hospital tank. water temp 80 degrees, melafix treatment, a teaspoon per gallon of salt. swabbed once with hydrogen peroxide. the soar seemed to be doing better then continued to grow. I attempted to catch her and do to the hydrogen peroxide after 7 days, she bumped her soar, it was bleeding, I was soaked and did not want to stress her more and I apologized and talked to her (poor thing).
My local Specialty FS was no help.
please help! I amnot sure what to do!!!
I am sorry the recent pix are the best. Above I discribed the soar the best I could.

Calling ALL Wise Fish Lovers..........

Your Wisdom is Needed ! !

Please give some advise on how to treat my Oscar.

Your time is greatly appreciated! My sweet Oscar needs your help.

You might want to try and start a new thread to see if some people will help out. Some people on here might say something about having two thread about the same thing but who cares in this case. Sometimes new threads get more attention. I'm not sure what to do, I would have said the salt as the first step. Then you tried the melafix....... Check out what else the stores have for open sores, may have to treat that longer then suggested. Keep up on water changes. Sorry I couldn't help more.
