So there's the stress zyme method (Sounds too good to be true)
The fishless method which seems boring and longgg
compared to the OLD METHOD where you add some hardy fish to tough it out and cycle the tank.

Which method do you use and why?

a oscar in a 55gal.

reason: didn't know better.

well for the first tank I set up I used the "hardy fish" method. After that, every tank has been the "filter from an established tank" method.

Wish I had a filter from an established tank . I got my moms aquatech 5-15 its cycled but her tank already has enough probs

first tank there was no cycling or water testing... ive learned since then and now theres always extra established media on hand

i never cycled my first tank... which was a bad a idea cause most of my fish died from ick. :(.. now that ive learned.... i am cycling my new tank with an est HOB and a new ehiem pro 2, a pleco and a dose of Cycle(a product used to speed the process of cycling new tanks);)

I cycle using media from an established tank. Quick, easy, and I have extra media in my sump that I rarely clean and use it to seed hospital tanks, quarrantine tanks, growout tanks.

It isn't too good to be true....... It IS true. Stress Zyme is "live nitrifying bacteria" which is what an established tank has.
