What methods are there for aquarium construction?

Don't be a tease Dr. Joe. Please give us your knowledge.

They use concrete slab tanks/ponds a lot in SE Asia. Extremely cheap to make. Make one rectangular wooden frame the length and depth(height) you want your tank to be. The thickness of wood will be how thick your slab will be. example 45mm thick wood will give you a concrete slab 45 mm thick. Make another rectangular wooden frame the same dimensions as the sides of your tank. Add some rebar and pour in concrete. You can either add some waterproofing compound into the concrete or you can waterproof the finished product. Allow pour concrete to dry and disassemble the frame to recover your slab. Repeat this procedure once more for the other side and other end. When you have 2 sides and 2 ends you can then construct your tank/pond. Weld the protruding rebar together to strengthen corners and then pour in a concrete base. They usually fill in corners a little too for extra waterproofing and to stop fish getting stuck.

again, not an aquarium guru, but don't they just use rubber bladder material such as for koi ponds? the material behind the bladder doesn't really matter, as long as it holds shape under the weight of the water.
