What might I be?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah i think i might have to rule out the centrarchus as well. nice research tho.

i was looking at it more closely last night, it's possible that its a female. and it does have simular aspects of a con/something. well it is as big as my hand, and doesn't seem to be letting up on growth yet. also the coloration is way off next to a adult male con.

i'm thinking its a maybe a con/FH, or con/RD, or possible con/salvani? reason i say salvani, is becasue the "other" fish that i had got with this one. looked like a female salvani. it had the normal salv female coloration. but still had bars, and the strange body shape. but the dad of this fish in question prolly was a con.

i do however know for a fact that this fish in question is very mean. i have it currently with a female 5-6"RD, and its clearly noticable who is the dominate of these 2. but they haven't breed or even tried to yet. which also brings me back to it possibly being female.

i'll try to take a vent pic today sometime, wile doing my water changes.

thanx everyone agian for the input.

I had 4 of those a couple of years ago. It's half convict half texas. The LFs sold them to me for $10.00. Like parrots the males are sterile. I had 2females and 2 males. They reached almost 8 inches when they were full grown.

UPDATE: deffinatly no Tex X Con! well anyways i added this guy to my main display with my JD's and GT and con, and needless to say over night it has taken over my tank, and is treating everyone like crap. i purty sure i gonna have to remove it from the 125 and put back in its original tank. oh and it's larger then previously thought. now it's pushing 8inches maybe 9 now. it's just downright mean. period.

It looks very similar to one of my BP x Convict although I dont think I have pics of the one it looks like but have pics of its siblings.

It wasnt always this grey, it was usually the dark brown like yours to olive green.

I'm just going to throw this out there...

It looks to me like a hybrid archocentrus nigrofaciatus/archocentrus spinosissimus. IMO. Or even an archocentrus sajica (t-bar cichlid).

CONVICT x FIREMOUTH ..
or
CONVICT x FLOWERHORN..:naughty:

That would explain the spot's down the lateral line..

it is not an amarillo.i just looked it up and all i saw were bright yellow fish with black stripes.looks like a normal convict except for the tanned top
