As I've typed above. I know all monster fish can jump out of the tank, the chances are just different for different species. So what fish, in your experiences, that would go out of their ways to find even the smallest escape routes to jump out and disappear? IMO, Silver Arowana, this species will go out of their ways to escape even if there's even a smallest gap. Cichlids, no, they'd often jump when they're being fed, or they see potential food at the edge of the tank, or they got chased by other fish, or if they weren't accustomed to their new surroundings and environment and felt unsafe. So I wouldn't say cichlids will go out of their ways to jump out of the tank. Then there are the likes of arowanas and snakeheads. So if there any other species like the 2 above, please tell me.

IME the absolute worst are Mastacembelus species… ie tire track, fire eels etc… they will climb into HOB’s, into return plumbing from sumps, into overflows then down into ur piping and of course find any spec of an open hole to take advantage of.

Had one go into an overflow then get caught at a 90 in the plumbing overflowing the tank… burnt the pump out lol… another one escaped a tank and i found it 20’ across the room in my sump crock basin of a basement. Pretty impressive.

Sure the typical “lid knockers” can escape without weighted or locked lids. Gar and aros arent going inside of ur piping tho lol…

Haven’t personally had one, but morays are pretty famous for it. Pretty much any eel-like fish will be a candidate for jumping.
Also (more of a saltwater concern) gobies and blennies seem like they prefer to be out of the water.

I did have a blood parrot get so excited by food it launched itself right out of the tank…
