You guys need to get your bowfins. I feel like a loner here. I am gunna take some pictures of him tonight I think if I can find my camera if anybody is interested. Would it be possible to start a picture thread in this forum or would it be moved? I need that answer before I post pics.

Haha yea that is why mine will only be in my tank for a year. Then it is going to my pond. I can't wait for one of my friends to come over and stick thier hand in the pond and get chomped on by a giant bowfin.:grinno:

Get me a tank large enough for one and I'll gladly get a bowfin so you won't feel alone.:D

necrocanis, I would post a picture of it but I am not very good at taking decent pictures. I think this fish is beyond the point of ID by photo anyway, I think it's gonna come down to feeling the serrations on the pectoral spines and looking at it's teeth or something. I consider myself pretty good at IDing natives but this one has me.

I started a picture thread in the photo lounge. Come and show everybody what we got. Oh yea sandtiger I would love to but I don't even have a tank big enough. Mine is going in a pond.

Sounds like you need to break out a dissecting scopeto get a good view of the spine, its even more fun while they are alive.
