Bit of random googling on river monsters and i see this... Has the photo been doctored? What is it?

Its not doctored it looks like one of the large Raphael cats maybe megaladoras irwini

I didnt realise they were as colourful as that. I figured something alomg those lines with the spikes up the side. just never seen colour like that

Seen some photos of cool colored ones being wild caught recently, a lot of red in them.

Yes they do squeak.

The red is due to the stress of being hooked then fighting. Small veins in the skin and fins haemorrhage giving the pink red look.
Size of this uranoscopus is impressive though!

I think you're right I'm not too good at telling the Raphael type catfish apart
