what one aggressive cichlid would you put in a 110 gallon

My choice would be a Trimac or Amarillo. Just about any Amphilophus would be a good choice. Jags are very cool too so you could consider keeping one, but I would rather keep one in slightly lower, longer tank like a 125. A 110 is too small for a male Dovii or Umbie long term.

black nasty perhaps

You guys realize a 110 is just a 30" tall 75, right? Assuming he has a standard 110 anyway. So if you wouldn't put it in a 75, why would you put it in a 110? Anything that gets more than about 14" shouldn't be in a 4 foot tank...my opinion at least.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm aware of it. I still feel any of the fish I mentioned would do fine by itself in a 110. I would say as for Amphlophus all but perhaps a large male Chanco could spend it's entire life easly in a 110. Do weekly 50% water changes, regular maintance and it's no problem. I see guys with way too many large fish cramed into tanks. I'd rather see one nice fish in a 110 than a dozen aggressive fish shoehorned into a 180 or 240.
