to clarify, only P. palmas polli is the active one out of the three palmas subspecies.

the truly active ones that you can generally count on are palmas polli and senegalus. delhezi can be quite active to semi-active as well. ornate can become more active the larger they grow, but small ones are generally not, or at best hit or miss.

other than these, there aren't really any other ones that i would consider active. your list pretty much covers all of it. as for the ones anne listed, again i wouldn't consider them active.

Ornates are also very active. At least I have always seen active ones!

My Ornate is as inactive as they come. It's probably the only poly I wouldn't buy again.

Chigga Jeff, go visit Lee's Aquarium in Monterey Pk. He has a 14" ornates, 12" senegals (x2) for sale if you want more senegals. Beside those you listed there are not many other active bichirs. Why do you think I have so many delhezis, polli palmas, and senegals? You could still have a nice tank full of the three species.

P.S. You could try a ropefish aka Reed Fish. I'm not sure how active they are but they would make a cool tankmate.

My ropes are by far my most active in the tank. They are all over the place.
