What other active upper jaw bichirs are out there?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The answer to the question of course is going to be baised on personal experiance. IMO ornates have it all, coloration, size and a reasonable level of activity. Mine is more active than my del, way more active than my endi and only somewhat less than my sen. Even if they are not the most active there is something pretty awe inspiring in seeing a 18" + ornate cruise by the front of your tank:):):):)

My ropes are by far my most active in the tank. They are all over the place.

i agree. i just picked up two ropes on tuesday and i don't think they have stopped swimming yet. also they don't seem very skittish. mine have bumped my arm at least 3 times so far while i was rearranging things in their tank. one also let me run my hand along the length of his body as he swam by.

my ornate is very active, he's not in one spot for more than a few minutes/

i need to find an ornate like you guys have. all the ones i've ever seen have just been chilling hard on the bottom. everyone i know with one says they are only active in darkness. pretty bichirs though.

I have three ornates. a 7" 12" and a 16" and all three are very active. one of my Endli's are active and my other one is purely lazy.
