Milky Way Galaxy,
In addition to my Koi and 2 florida gars which are doing amazing! in my 2,000g. just added another fliter and growing out 2 lily's from bulbs in addition with 2 pond plants and 1 3,000gph pump for flow and 2 UV sterilizers (both rated for 2,000g). Plan on adding another filter, 3-4 more pond plants, and one sumberssible pond filter if i find out if they work any good...

So heres my question... can i add any other types of gars? i was thinking gator but i do not think that my pond is big enough (12L'x12'W) any other gar types wit the envirment i have? perferably with a pic so i can see how awesome the species you are talking about is:headbang2thanks

shortnose are mean though right? thats what ive been told dont want any one getting killed besides the mosqutio fish and the feeders lol and so its a no on the gator gar? and ill check E then post on the thread my options and see what u all think is better

Not to be "that guy," but you really shouldn't be asking about getting more gars (or telling people that you own gars for that matter) if I remember your location correctly from a previous thread in this forum.

In that case, I apologize for ruling out the legality of you keeping gars.

You could look into getting longnose gar or shortnose gar; both should be able to live in your pond for life. I personally would go with longnose gar because they tend to get larger than most others gars in captivity besides alligator gars, they have some really cool color patterns, and they tend to be less skittish than shortnose gars.

Its cool your just trying to protect the hobby

I'll try the longnose cause my fl are pretty skitish but are alligator gars totally out of the question? I've been reading and read a sticky on mfk and read that they get 4' or less in captivity

Alligator gar should be kept in something that is at least 1.5-2 times their length for the width of the container, 3-4 times their length for the length of the container, and at least 2' deep, so you should be fine for housing an alligator gar. I personally would go with the longnose gars and Florida gars, but alligator gars would work, too.
