So, I am talking about pet fish. I heard of oscars in Fla being raised for human consumption. then someone posted a pacu caught in deep freeze Fla, someone said they also caught a pacu & too big to keep in his tank he ate it.

I am sure like stripe bass, porgies, but they are not normally kept as pet fish.

any others? grouper - which type?

A friend of mine in the Philipines started out in the fishkeeping hobby for the benefits of home grown fish as food.
He had his own backjard foodproduction!
What i heard is that he had Tilapia and Pangasius, for they grow fast and taste good.
He switched to Oscars later and fell in love with them .
So nowadays he keeps 2 large Pangasius and several adult Oscars, but doesn't see them as food anymore.

Lots of large cichlids are eaten. Some examples are mayan cichlids and tilapias. People also keep largemouth bass and sunfish, both of which are delicious. I have seen people on MFK that keep snappers and groupers. I am currently sitting beside a tank full of snappers, grunts, groupers, various porgies, etc...

Sunfish, Bluegill, Pike, Bass... what else?

giant gourami, most large cats, pacus, arapaima, silver arowana. those are just some of the thousands i think that are edible.

I thought about keeping a growing stock of porgies then cooking them for a party... Same goes for blue crabs.
