what pet fish are also fish that can be eaten for human consumption?

Im not sure what your planning, but keep in mind that most aquarium chemicals say "not for use on food fish" or something similar. Also, as stated before, you can pretty much eat any fish, but there are a few poisonous ones.

almost any fish that is caught in the amazon is eaten... we keep them as pets but for the people who live on the river there food...

I eat my adult discus. I was curious if they tasted as good as they look and to my surprise the best fish sandwiches i ever made. a delicacy in my opinion. Here some of the discus strains i ate that were very good to my tastebuds. some i netted the same day i ate them. I prefer albino strains . they should be in the fish market i dont know why they arnt. very easy to gut and clean. i may try a spring roll with them and eat them raw but im not sure how to prep that. anyone know?

Yup,just depends on the part of the world you live in.If people eat cats and rats then a fish sure is no biggie.
