Hi.
What plants can i have with ex. Parachromis Dovii?
What is your experience!? :)
I have thought about vallisneria americana (Gigantea) do you think that would work?

all cichlids eat plants. Especially larger ones. Dovii being very large ofcourse will either eat and/or uproot all your plants. I would say that live plants are not an option with that fish.

Balton777 has a plant in his tank with a dovii, so i thought that some plants could be in a tank whit Doviis... dont know if it plastic or real

Id take a look at Terd Fergusons posts and tank. He has had success with live plants in a tank with several LARGE pairs of cichlids, including Parachromis.

Heres a pic of his tank:

Java ferns, Java moss, anubias and hornworts are all worth a try.

this is the route I have gone with my escondido. I've seen them nibble on teh anubias a time or two and spit whatever they got off out and not touch it again. I've yet to see them go after the ferns at all.. or the moss for that matter. Now any frogbit or floaters I put in.. that just becomes an appetizer/salad bar while they wait to overstuff themselves on bloodworms again.

Potted plants or tying plants to heavy driftwood might work.

Not all cichlids eat plants, especially a dovii. Most large cichlids will up root them. I keep hornwort in my oscar tank, because hornwort doesn't have roots, and is really hardy. Java moss and java fern work well too.

I don't think I'll ever try to have living plants with my big CAs. They like to dig and move gravel around too much for plants :P
