I seen an Orange Bichir and dont know the name of it. Can anyone post a pic or give me a name?

Also, I'm looking to add a Bichir to my tank (5x2x2) and don't know what type to add? Looking for nice colors (no solid colors) and that is not aggressive (not known to be).

hmm.... orange bichir? can you tell if it was a lower or upper jaw species?

colorfull polys to add would be palmas palmas or palmas buettikoferi.
maybe a teugelsi or ornate depeding how much room you have.

for you aggressive concerns... all polypterus are predators. they are able to eat anything that can fit in their mouth. there are some poly keepers that have kept bite size tank mates but it is a gamble. usually sooner or later small tank mates will end up missing.

if you get a bigger tank maybe a teugelsi or ornate.

I have a red tail payara, spoted gar, 2 VATF's all under 9".
I would like to try a bichir that doesnt have a rep of stressing out other fish.
As far as lower, upper jaw, I have no clue.
Just want a bichir that is not hard to find, but that has good colors. I do like the delhezi and the Ornate

go with the ornate they are generally layed back and are pretty easy to find but depending on what sized tank you have he may eat your other fish or not, what other fish are you gonna keep him with?

the post right before yours has myy tank mates

ornate and delhezi are fairly common. in my exp. polys dont usually chase or stress out other fish.

here is a couple pics showing a upper jaw and lower jaw bichir

I can't tell the diff. except one has a thicker mouth than the other.
What is a good bichir that gets around 18"?

One more charactaristic i'm looking for... a swimmer. One that likes to cruise the tank :)

a swimmer eh? well that rules out most ornates. there are exceptions but they are mostly logs :) delhezi and palmas pollis can be quite active but wont get 18". they max out around 13-14".

(below was taken from beblondie's (Anne) primer-- sticky that is a great read for all poly owners :) )
Upper Jaw Species-Upper jaw protrudes past lower jaw
Lower Jaw Species-Lower protrudes past upper jaw

Thanks, Ive always liked the delhezi.
Is this a reg delhezi?
What is the exact name if not a reg delhezi
