Though you are taking a huge risk with that gravel!

Bichirs are messy eaters, and notorious for sucking up substrate with their food.
This can cause compaction which usually results in a very horrid death!
 
If you want active and small then here are the species for you. Polli palmas, reed fish aka rope bichir, and delhezi. I recommend a delhezi.

i second the palmas, he is the most active bichir in my tank with ropefish coming in second.
 
wow. the cheapest I can find any of these online is $60 plus shipping(which i'm sure will be high).

I didn't expect to pay close to $100 for a small upper jaw bicher.

I guess thats the price I pay for living in an area without any decent fish stores.
