What primitive fish are good with florida gars?

If looking at primitive fish....the only ones that come to mind.
Arowana
African arowana
Clown knife fish
South American lung fish
African lung fish ( can be bad with tankmates)
Lower jaw large Polypterus.

what about stingrays?

You can have rays with Florida gars but I forget if they are considered prehistoric or ancient.

You will need a large tank for almost any ray. Keep in mind.

Also bowfin are another option as well.
