What qualifies as a "Monster" tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
180 gallon is too subjective. My 150 tall is just as monster as any 180 if impact and scale are yardsticks....I also believe stocking has an impact although a 300 gallon tank with nothing but small tetras is more monster than a 125 with Peacock bass in my opinion!!

100% agree with you on that one my 150 tall is a beast. the top of the tank on the stand is about 2 ft away from the ceiling LOL

whats more monster. a 55 gallon, with great stock amazing plants and artsy design of layout with awesome driftwood or a 180 with barebottom and a couple xlarge fish. personally i think that the size doesnt matter (of course like some are a bit too small) its more what you do with it and how you treat your tank. in my personal opinion to be a monster fish keeper, you just have to do things over the top. i.e extreme planting, amazing good care of your fish, excellent specimens of fish. the overall awesomeness of your aquaculture.

Id say the 6 footers are where the monster tanks start. But a real monster tank to me starts at 300 gallons. Any less and I see them all the time.(including my own)

Hey leave barebottom tanks out of this! HAhaha ALOT of MFKers rock the bare bottom, it goes well with alot of monster fish with moster waste

Why do you need a monster TANK to be a monster fishkeeper? What if you have monster FISH? My wolf is definitely a monster fish but my tank is not enormous.

If you are questioning whether or not your own tank is "Monster" or not, then it is not. Only passion and effort will get you a "Monster".

I've seen little 10g tanks that are monsters, and huge 200+ gallon tanks that are far from it.
