When people who want you to do something won't just ask you to do it.Instead they will ask you if you want to do it...Example-You wanna move that? or,You wanna sign this?...You want to put that away?..and so forth.
x2. My boss does something similar. Drives me crazy. He always says that he needs to do something, when he really means I need to do something.
Example:
I'm an auto tech.
Boss: "I need to change the intake gasket on that bonneville, and then I need to do the civic brake job that is coming in at 1:00."
Me: "Ok"
Boss: *Stands there and waits for me to get the keys from the office for the bonneville.*
What Boss really means: "Go do the intake gasket on the bonneville. I'll be in the office because it's January, and the office is 20 degrees warmer. You'd better hurry up, because you have an appointment coming in at one."
So now 5:00 rolls around, and it's closing time. The customers are coming in to pick up their cars.
Boss: "I had a little trouble with your intake; I had to drill a couple bolts that were seized and they snapped when I tried to take them out. Then, once I got them out, I had to rethread the holes that they came out of. It was a pain, but I got through it."
Customer: "Gee. You're the best. Thats why I keep coming back here, because you do great work. Thanks so much."
Boss: "My pleasure. Any time." As he smiles and takes the credit card from the customer with a hand that has no dirt under it's fingernails.
The customer looks out the office window into the shop. He sees me and my coworkers huddled in the corner, shivering, with blood dripping from our busted knuckles.
Customer leaves, boss comes out to the shop.
Boss: "Well, that was a long day. Lets pack it in. I'm beat!"
