Read the sticky at the top of the datnoid page.It is said to be extinct in Thailand but hopefully there are remote areas where this fish still thrives.

i was told that in 2010 it will not be allowed to import and export ANY ST from from any country even if they have been captives for years

If they are'nt completely extinct and there are wild populations of them that the authorities are trying to protect then I probably would'nt be opposed to that kind of action being taken.

FYI, they are not extinct in Thailand at all. They are actually everwhere in Thailand. A friend of mines that owns a pet shop (Tongs LA) has seen many of them the last time he came there.

Not going to start an arguement here. Scientists don't need to know, from what he told me, he has seen enough small ones in there. The only problem is getting it out of Thailand.

fishbase says extinct in thailand o.o they banned export of em o.o and its not on IUCN red list... thats all i know...

as for tong seeing baby ones... i have no idea ._. BUT i have heard of myths that they did in fact have success breeding em ( in labs)
