Hello all,

I have a 40 breeder that i am intereting in setting up for a reptile. First of all the tank to house this reptile (thinking chameleon :naughty: would like suggetions!) is ur standard 40 breeder 36x18x16. What size heating lamp would i need for this i see now they have bulbs for day and night so do i need 2 lamps? used to keep chinese water dragons when i was a child. Let me know what u would do. full set up THANKS!!!

Try a jackson chameleon. My lfs had a pair of em and they bred. Coolest thing ever!!

could i use a ceramic infared as the primary and only heat source. Im looking for a veiled chameleon as i am researching and they only get to be 12 inches

Chameleons aren't really supposed to be kept in a glass tank and those probably aren't the best dimensions for one anyway...

this^

what's your price range?

Same really! Glass tank really not that good! becouse you could do with more ventilation at back and sides! as your going to have to keep it really humid around 80-90% with glass it can course mold if not enough ventilation! Also need it a little higher than 18inch for Chameleons buddy!

i also agree with chameleons should not go in a glass cage. what type of herp are you looking for? snakes lizards ect? oh and of course......MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Chameleons do not do well in glass tanks unless you set up a vent for more air flow. Also, i dont think the dimensions would work for an arboreal animal of that size. Maybe some plated lizards, red eyed croc skinks, a colony of anoles, or other similar small-medium sized ground dwelling lizards.
