Hey guys, I am curious what you guys use for sand/substrate in the bottom of your ray tank.

I had fine sand in my tank a while ago, and it kept getting sucked up into the filters and caused a HUGE mess.

Thanks for any input.

Pool filter and Bare bottom....

3M sand or Estes sand.

solid sheet of glass :)

This is a ray forum, so who cares what you have if you don't have rays. I have crushed granite in with my cichlids; does that mean it's ok with rays? NO

i use gravel, but its a very smooth round gravel and just enough to cover the bottom. the rays can still bury themselves if they like, and it stays surprisingly clean due to the layer being so thin.

i found my rays had a hard time moving around on BB, so i added my gravel back to their tank.
