What sand to use for a amazon aquarium

Not black and not white. Go to homedepot cuz its cheap, avoid playsand. Kind of what you find on the beach but a lil darker

Ive heard of playsand messing with filters. Could use pool filter sand it has bigger/heavier grains but is very light in color. My lfs sells sand that looks very natural close to beach sand but its like 10 dollar for 20 pounds. I cant for the life of me remember the name it. Will be going there later today and can let you know the name if interested.

Leslie's pool filter sand... $9 or so for 50lbs... heavy and it will not float into your filter

Wow! Was it live sand? Ill post the brand later for you as you may be able to order it if you decide not to go with PFS. I fell in love with this sand it looks natural. Im actually goin to switch one of my tanks to it. I like PFS for the price i just dont like almost white sand, have however seen some real nice tanks done with PFS it just comes down to personal preferance.

I've been to the Amazon river and tributaries and the sand is closest to pool filter sand in appearance and coarseness.
