in my shark tank
I am setting up a fw ray tank its 300 gallons and I am trying to figureout what sand to use? I can either use Playground sand, Quikrete medium sand, or pool filter sand. I want something that wont hurt the disk of the rays and also something that wont cloud the tank every time the rays move. I have lots of experiance in SW but this is my first FW tank. Please let me know what you think...Thanks

IN BEFORE THE SOCAL HATERS

I used a coarse quartz sand I like it a lot, I got it from a landscape supply company in an 80# bag for like 20-30 bucks

It looks much lighter in the tank than dry, just a heads up

Home depot has washed playsand for 4 bucks a 50 ib bag. When i use too use sand thats what i used.

I use the playsand and if you wash it enough times and soak it (even though it says its washed) it won't stir at all when the rays move about.

From what I have heard a lot of people use pool filter sand...It's not bad for the rays and it's cheap and easy to maintain...

Put a bucket outside, fill it about 2/3 way with sand and then fill up the bucket with water...wait about like 5 minutes or so, dump the water out and repeat 3-5 times so it gets washed good .... then you put that sand in the tank and get more sand and then repeat all over again
