I dont think its really girls being into fish, its perhaps the type of fish this forum cators to. I know most other females I see at a LFS when I go are hitting up on the guppies and cute little colorful things, and Im googly eyed up over a red devil tearing the **** out of some random feeder fish.
When i first started keeping fish i had gourami's, platy's and such and i thought it was gross when my bro fed his fish feeder's,but changed my mind since then.The big boy's are far more interesting.And i must admit i enjoy feeding time especially live food.
My first real tank and attempt at fish keeping was a 10G community of live bearers and corydoras. I had frilly little guppies and such...and Ive always had a betta and probably always will. But I to eventually made the switch, granted I was never turned off by the fact that these larger fish were predatory and aggressive. It was more of being a minor without a job or viable money source to buy larger tanks and things to have the bigger fish. But eventually we all move on I suppose...seems most people either eventually end up with more pred/aggressive species or do high end marine or planted systems.
I still have my betta tank unfortunatly he died not long ago , but there one of the few little guy's i will alway's have a soft spot for.
