And I guess time really won't tell unless it's a fertile female and he throws a mature male cichlid in there. So I should probably retract that.

Really everyone is just going by what they've seen from experiance, and each side for male/female has "explained" enough. Some traits are obvious male/some obvious female in the world of cichlids/hybrids. I don't think I need to type a book on a discussion that probably won't ever end though. Sometimes fish do a damn good job of fooling us. It's all opinion for now. Thanks for "listening" Think I'll use parenthesis all the time now.

I deleted my post within 1 minute of posting because I saw that fish before any replys and thought "I think it's female" and then posted that and then said.. "Ehh why get into another discussion in the hybrid forum that never ends because each side disagree's and neither will be able to show something that the other sees as proof.."and "It's late to get into a discussion on this.." to be honest. Believe it or not sometimes I just don't have time to get into discussions, especially ones I don't think will end with a mutual consensus. I don't always agree with JP. Look at killergx's FH thread he posted today. I wouldn't touch that fish and would save more $ to get something better.(based on my taste and truly I usually can't find alot of FH's in the $200.00 range that I like and I dislike FH that short) but JP told him go for it. I don't even post in most of the threads he posts in. But whatever I guess.
But next time I won't post an opinion unless I feel like explaining it with pictures and a tutorial.

Here's my point of view regarding this whole discussion in this thread. NONE of what we all posted as a proof don't satisfy others, because we all come from our own direct experiences with BPs.
This is the point I am trying to make. This is the close up picture of the tube from the 2nd picture that DrUgs posted and I added two lines to show that once this piece is about to lay eggs, tube will drop further down and show the actual obvious female tube.
Another point I am trying to make is that you can't judge by the "thickness" of the tube, as in if the tube isn't "thick", it's a male, not true. This picture clearly shows that.

And here are two pictures fishfreak posted to show the male/female tube and I also do agree that 1st pic is indeed the male and 2nd one is a female, WHILE HER TUBE IS DROPPING! Keep that in mind, female tubes just don't look straight thicker and longer all the time!

Lastly, here's my ex female parrot. Can you believe that? I mean, the tube is real small! When she's about to lay/laying eggs, her tube comes out and looks real thick just like your female showing pics during laying bigspizz. And I honestly think that DrUgS's BP will do the same, show that true thick female tube of hers when it's time to lay.
I agree with you on that totally. I always hesistate or feel iffy about replying in an "opinion" thread, because most of the time it's not the answer people want to hear such as..... low grade, different strain, and opposite sex than the owner hoped for. I felt the need to post in here because IN MY OPINION(again, IMO!) I thought this one was a 100% female and still is from my own personal experiences and everyone seemed to just go straight by the skinny and long tube= male.

This thread will never satisfy neither side of group of people even after all of showing proofs, explainning, wasting time typing, and stressing yourself on a good saturday night to enjoy. After all, it's not even our fish! AND to some people, it's a fish they even like. It's late, and let's just end it here........I am tired.
