No offense, EBJD's aren't something I shop around looking for good prices, EBJD's with good bloodlines are worth their weight in gold as far as I'm concerned.

L-46's IMO are way over-rated. They require near perfect water at a high temp. Tons of water movement, and do best in large groups, which requires a huge investment in fish. I'll stick to my panaque's and my psuda's

You buy from a breeder who is well known for quality. (Generally not cheap) they can usually provide pics of the parents so u can get an idea of adult coloration and or deformities. Not saying its an exact science, but if drastically increases your chances of owning a show stopper EBJD.

I see. All I know is that my ebjd came from a breeder in Nebraska... he has bright colors, is growing very fast, and someone has told me it has a" hollywood" pattern (though I dunno what it means).

$200 for a zebra pleco at a pet store at 1" would be a great price. For those that say they are over-rated, have probably not had them. These are an absolutely stunning centerpiece to any pleco collection. I have had a few in my time, but currently am without. If I saw one at $200, I'd buy it in a heart beat. Remember, that if you can afford to buy a group of 5-6 of these guys, the can actually return that money to you in a few years time, and then many times more.
