So many of you have seen my threads about my female festae but i have decided to sell her along with my small silver arowana. I found someone to purchase both and this will help me fund my next purchase. My choices are listed in order of which i wanna buy. I will be buying from floridatropicalfishdirect.com this week if they guy shows up to buy them which he seems liek he will. I want to raise the fish young and i think this will work out for me in the long rung for my 150 when setup. Let me know what you think. I want other fish as they have a very nice selection and come highly recommended and have great customer service as ive talked with them already

1)2-3 festaes to get a pair
2)1 festae plus one of the other fish listed below
3)beani(2)
4)black nasty(2)
5)umbie
6)cuban(2)
7)grammodes

If it was me, I'd go with trying to get a mating pair of festae.

Well, if you are getting juvies, then I'd get a group of about 6 or so. That way, your odds of getting a pair are very good. I would imagine you are getting juvies, because a mated pair of adult festae could cost you a king's ransom. LOL...

I've recently decided to devote a tank to getting a festae pair, so I guess I vote for that, but I really like the Grammodes and Tetracanthus idea as well.

whatever i choose will be new to me as ive never owned any of these fish minus the festae but ive never bred any fish

If you're getting juvie festae in order to get a pair I recommend that you get at least 6 as you might lose some of them during the grow out process, they can't stand each other and are very aggressive at 1.5". Good luck

Are you starting with an empty tank? What size is it? As mentioned, festae are rough on each other. I'd recommend 6 - 8 fish in as large of a tank as you can manage if you want to grow them out and pair them off.
