Some of you may know that two weeks ago I caught a Johnny Darter Etheostoma nigrum and I'm keeping it in a 10g tank. I've been feeding it frozen blood worm and it seams to be excepting them but should I worry about amonia from them? The darter has one tank mate, a juvanile Ameca splendas, and apears to be adjusting well to tank life. I have a wisper filter system in the tank that's made for a 30g tank and I do water changes once a week, is there any more that I should do? tanks for the help.

your biological filter should take care of ammonia. if it can't handle the ammonia then you are either under filtered, overstocked, or overfeeding.

I forgot to add this. If anybody wants the Ameca splendas PM me about it. It might still be to young to tell the gender but is starting to color up nicely. Also it's father got second place in a fish show so it might be good to concider getting it to add to you stocks if you have some others.

have you tested your amonia levels?
