I've been running a 300 watt Marineland Stealth Pro in a 90g of mine for exactly a year now with no problems at all. Its always kept the temp right where I needed it and was very reliable. Well, in the past 3-4 months Ive pretty much gone flowerhorn crazy and thats pretty much all I keep now. Two weeks ago I ordered a gorgeous KML for $150 and prepared the 90 to be his new home. From the moment he hit the water things started to go downhill. I figured it was only him being stressed from shipping and it would pass in a bit as usual, it did not. After 4-5 days of this I was really worried but I held fast that things would start to look up soon. The other morning when I woke up I went over to check on my lil man and he wasnt there, so I started looking around the tank. I found him beside it long gone, he had took the leap of faith during the night and was dead. I racked my brain trying to figure out what exactly went wrong. I acclimated correctly as always, water parameters where on point, etc. I have NEVER lost a single fish! and NEVER had one jump out on me. I didnt even think a fish could jump out of this tank because it has a full canopy, there is only one very small opening in the back on the right side and he somehow made his way to it.

I was talking to the guy I purchased the fish from telling him what happened and all and the first thing he told me to do was check my heater. I had just come back from catfishing the night before and got a cut on my index finger and as I touched the heater a I felt a quite painful shock in the cut. I unplugged the heater and it didnt do it, plugged it back in and sure enough, shocked me again.....I know not the smartest thing to do but I wanted to be sure.

So....Im searching MFK for Stealth pro problems and I just saw that Marineland have recalled these heaters and I'm just wondering what can I do. I'm pretty sure they're not going to cover what their faulty product costed me, but I would like to AT LEAST be reimbursed for the junk they sold me. I don't have the receipt either, what are my options you think?

I know its a long post and I appologize, just wanted to be thorough. Thanks.

mount olive? isn't that the place that makes pickels?

Thats the place!

I dont want another one, they have costed me enough money already.

If you care anything at all about whats in that tank....GET ANOTHER HEATER!!!

You do not want to feel like I do right now. They're 20-something dollar heater has costed me close to $200, its quite sickening.

Give Marineland a call.

Tell them about the recall you heard and they will ask you a number on the back of the heater itself.

It'll tell you if it's from the problematic batch.

If it is, I think they send a new one out to you.

I called and didn't get a new one, but it gave me the ease of not thinking my heater was going to blow up and kill all my fish. :)

So it's a win/win. Give them a call. :)

I'm really not interested in a new one. Theres no way, with whats happened to me here, would I EVER put one of their heaters in my tank again. If thats all can get though, I'll have to take it. If nothing else Ill sell it for dirt cheap and partially pay for another jager. I'll definantly be giving them a call first thing in the morning. I'll just have to remember to stay half calm, cause I'm super pissed about the whole situation.
