i dont know if you remember but about a week ago i bought a male convict smaller than my female looking for a pair. They are 2.25" and 1.25" about. The female is relentless she wont let him out of his cave and she just bullies the heck out of him. The ripped up his fins a bit and every once in a while will not bully him and just swims past him so he thinks that is is ok for him to show off in front of her. She just gets madder and beats him up some more. What should i do to help pair them, or should i just give him back to the pet store and get a larger male (bigger than the female).

Hmmmm you should trade him for a bigger male, but if that male is better looking than the one in the store you should separate them and let him grow for a while and it will be vice versa in no time.

ya he is nice looking kinda calico little barring. But the one at the store is prolly like 3.5" and has a nice big nauchal hump and decent coloring.

Hmmmm get both!
Get the big one for the female for now and pick up another smaller female for your smaller female. Better in your hands than the store. :D

ya but i dont have the tank space. hence my other thread "not enough tanks". lol

What size tank? Get a divider until he grows. If she is sexually mature, he's not and she is ready to breed....

He'll be dead soon!

i think ill trade, hes not soo good looking that i want to wait a month or two to make a possible mate. i think il just try another mate that is definatly sexually mature, and the one i am looking at does have a nice hump
when and if i get him if he is still at the store ill post pics.

Still going to caution you to put a divider in there when you introduce him until you see them start shimmying at eachother instead of going at it.

what is the pairing behavior i should look for
