what should i do

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are mostly together and fending off other fish, they flare at each other, or there always doing something....TOGETHER! :)

no but like through the divider would it be the same togehter and flaring and body shaking?

So...your planning on dividing them up? Im confuse....please explain....but as for now, all cichlids flare, but breeding behavior usually does what i explained in the post above. BUT if im getting it right here, your going to trade your small male for a bigger male and put him with the female instead, but you will be adding a divider so both fish sees each other and hopefully they like each other?

Get the bigger male since the smaller male is getting beat on. But my brother had a pair where the male was smaller and they still bred many times.

yeah once they start to breed you can't stop them
but yeah and some more breeding behavior is cleaning a spot
to show off how they would be a good parent
but the bigger male for sure...no doubt
its just sensible
but you can separate them for a little while and then put them together
just to see if they would get along
but if there is any hostility...you would not put them together

Yes this is what im planning on doing. Give back the small male, get the larger male. put them in a tank with a divider, see ig they like each other. Or would it be better to just let him go directly in with her. She has a territory to defend but he doesnt so he wont be aggro but he is bigger so can hold his ground. so divider or no?
