I don't know...
I'd rather not get an aro only to have it outgrow the tank before I can upgrade. I like the ray idea though.

BTW all, here's my "criteria" for the option 4 centerpiece:

-Between 12"-24" maximum size.
-White coloring or available in albino form.
-Somewhat peaceful/won't eat the polys.

Is a Vieja argentea a viable option? Its not white, but fairly light. Same goes for Vieja tuyrensis. A panda uaru could be a great centerpiece as well.

The vieja look cool. Do you have any info on them, like cost, availability, etc...

Everything about the viejas I know is from google and browsing the forum. The argenteas are supposed to be fairly peaceful aside from conspecifics and things that can fit in their mouths. I hear alot of info on their particularly high intelligence and interactivity. As far as pricing goes, I don't see them around here alot, but when I do they don't run for more than $20 for a 3 incher or so. I assume the same pricing and disposition applies to the tuyrensis as well.

Panda uaru's I know less of, but to my understanding the have the temperament and general personality. Uarus tend to be more expensive (up to $40 for a regular morph of 3-4 inches), I'm not sure of the pricing for panda's, but I believe them to be more expensive.

Sorry for the vagueness of all of this, I'm newer to the viejas and uarus. Other members might be able to chime in to confirm my data or add their own experiences.

Cool, thanks. They all sound really cool. I'll definitely have to consider them!
Anybody else care to make a suggestion?

That idea sounds cool, but I'm not too fond of cichlids. I'll have to see.

Here ya go, I'll quote you again.
I do like the cichlid/big fish idea. I was thinking about an albino oscar, but then I'd be worried about the polys.
I've kept cichlids for a while now, but I got my first severum (green variant, but I'd imagine the gold variant is pretty much identical in all but color) over the summer. He's a great fish and you wouldn't have to worry about the polys. Mine lives just fine with my albino sen and ornate

After looking at a few gold sevs, I'm liking this idea also. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I said number 1, but an SAL will get too big. I would make it an african oddball tank. Bichirs, ctenopomas, african knifefish, etc.
