i have a 3" sen bichir in my moms 12gl. she has a few Africans see put in their after i put my bichir in the tank. the Africans are tearing the crap out of my bichir has has no pec fins left but he still eats fine. should i leave him in that tank or risk it and put him in my55 with my JD that might eat him.

i tried that once with one and he got out and something ate him no matter how i place the divider their always little cracks to get through. it is the right size for a 55

Hello,

No offense, but...

I have been reading your posts for awhile, way before I joined MFK. It seems inevitable that you are going to ask about aggressive fish in an over-stocked tank. Each round, it appears that you have a different group of fish and again you're having aggression issues.

How many 3" fish are in the 12 gallon?

If it was the right size for a 55 there would be no spaces for them to get through.. Buy a better one, or get a lot of big rocks and stack them so there's room in between for the bichir to hide, if you can't do that, get pieces of slate and put them on an angle, leaning on the gravel/bottom so it creates a small space where the bichir can hide and the jd can't get him

The JD will own the bichir lol. I speak from experience, i lost my bichir due to the fact that i was careless with him along with my oscars. He did very well for a while, ate regularly, no damaged fins from the oscars. And then one morning i woke up and he was gone without a trace. And i know he didn't jump out.

get a foam barrier for the 55g and stop getting more cichlids.

I went and checked the threads after you said this. It seems that you are correct.

Yes first off get rid of the bicher or the jack dempsey. Donate either fish to your LFS. Then research any new fish you are interested in. When 1 fish is chasing or tearing anothers fins it is time for human intervention. No matter what you do some fish will not get along. Remember they didn't ask to be put in a glass box. It takes years of experiance and research to know what fish are compatiable. And especially with cichlids whicj=h are very unpredicatable.
