Shipping animals is always a pain, tis the main reason I always try to deal locally if I can but sometimes it just cant be avoided. I really try to work with the person on the other end to ensure that I know the exact day that its supposed to arrive and like stated above, you pretty much have to stick around until it shows up, signing or no signing...

Sorry for the loss.

This is why I hate dealing with the USPS. Sorry about your loss, but when you are waiting for the USPS to deliver a fish you kind of have to make a day out of it or else they will close on you or lose your package.

x2.

I got screwed by them twice, once for shipping and once for receiving; I have not dealt with them since the last incident. My losses on account of USPS consist of one 5" redtail catfish (sent) and one 2" pirate perch (received). Both fishes died because that poor excuse of a package delivery service failed to deliver the fishes on time according to the time frames on their website. With both fishes, they arrived days late, not hours or minutes, days! And I didn't get a refund for shipping from USPS in either case because those were only "estimated" times. Well, if those were supposed to be accurate, then why the heck did they give me an inferior service when I paid for a superior service?!?!

Okay, sorry for the rant, but I just wanted to hammer the point home that it's worth it to spend the extra $$$ to have animals sent via FedEx or UPS rather than via USPS; you will not regret that decision. I've never had a problem with FedEx or UPS arriving late; in fact, they've always been on time or slightly early!
