How about bypassing some of the pressure? (atleast a temp fix)

Does Dad want to hide the filter or just look nice? (in or out of the pond?)

Pond filters are the easiest, just a W/D in a rubbermaid tub with a lid.

I'v been considering the deck box guppy piuctured, sure makes things look nicer.

Well, If he could hide it he probably woud. But If it looks nice we could put some plants ontop and BAM!

I'll Probably just use that bin
 
Make it a partial refugium or float water hyacinth or water lettuce, it helps hide things a little.
