were can i get shrimp and what kind. what kind of beefhearts and what type of pellets? also he is in my 120 tank. he has alot of room. 48"x24"x25"

With the feeding question and the quote hi-lighted above, it seems that you did no research regarding this fish. So one important note; Arowanas are jumpers, the more cramped they are the more likely they'll jump. Standard aquarium glass tops will not keep them in the tank.

I recommend you close all holes, and reinforce and weight you tank lid. It would be asmae for a beautiful fish such as that to end up dead on the floor.

yeah, i'd have to agree...a 30 incher in a 120 is really pushing it...batten down the hatches...

I picked up some frozen wild salmon fillets at the supermarket pretty cheap. I cut them up into bite sized pieces, and my silver aro goes nuts for them. The fillets are huge, so one of them will do more than several feedings. I also get raw shrimp there, buy one pound, get one pound free. Look around the supermarket for different seafood and such, you can get good food for your fish, often cheaper than other places. It seems you pay a premium for frozen items labeled "fish food". It should be noted that I always feed him some Hikari food sticks, or Omega One pellets before I give other foods, just to help out on nutritional needs. I agree with others, a 30" fish in a 120 is a tight fit. Be careful you don't lose him, it would be a real shame.

the 24" wide is a temporary crutch that will soon need to be removed for a 8x3x3 for that arowana

smelt is a good item to use, but they consume so much of it because its such a light fish.

i use shrimp as a treat once a week, and feed pellets daily.

I won't flame you but I hope you are getting a bigger tank for that Aro soon. If the fish is 30" and the tank is 48"X24 by the time your fish turns around hes almost 1/2 way down the tank. He needs more room.

if everyone keeps asking for pics i have the video on the tread. check it out. has the aro in it. hes around 26" to 28" sorry
