I just got him and im contemplating whats the best diet for him. I'm gonna go get him some tuffies to get him into the mood of eatting. But I know I cant feed him that all the time. Should I feed him some crickets or worms or something? He does not like pellets at all.

Crickets are fine. The important thing is vary the diet but you must try to get him used to commercial foods. Arowanas tend to be rather fussy with foods or at least that's what I had experienced before. I wouldn't try to get him too used to live foods if I were you or he'll never eat the commercial foods at all.

I think thats whats wrong with him so far. He's already 6 in long and he might have been grown up on live foods.

try to get him to take pellets i found my aros like hikari food stick, or try azoo aro pellets

ne hate pallets bt live food shud goes well for my aros...i always varies on the diet! maybe u shud varies the diets aswell! shud be no prob

Ok so I got him some feeders today, a doz tuffies. And thankfully he got a couple. But it was like they had to be almost wanting to be eatten for him to grab one. Idk if it was because I was watching him but he seemed like he didnt want to eat. My bichirs got the most of the feeders though. Its surprising how quick they are.

same prob.
trip to my lfs tomorrow is gonna be pricey
everything is like 2-10 dollars more cause i live in the mtns

anyone feed their aro earth worms?
where you get em? bait shop?

i think im gonna go with sticks and crickets tho

earthworms work great for mine.........just gotta keep them in the top of the water column......

My lil Aro loves freeze dried Krill, readily available at any place that sells fish stuff, including the damned walmart. I sub his diet with gut loaded crickets, this way I can be sure that he gets his VITAMINS (very important for longevity) Live foods present the possibilty of introducing bacteria and parisites into your tank.

If I was you I would really try to get him to start accepting pellets. It will save you money in the long run, and pellets (if you use the right kind) are really good for your aro. My silver eats mainly Hikari floating pellets with occassional treats like crickets or bloodworms, and he grows over an inch a month. You could try starving yours for a few days to try and get it to start eating pellets.
