You've got great ideas by other members already. I voted for a Jag pair though. But you can't really go wrong with the other Cichlid choices. A Pair of Petenia Splendida (Snooks) are nice too. I have two, one green and one red, that I hope are a pair. I believe that I do have a male and female. They are still small and coloring up quite nicely. Mature adults are beautiful in my opinion, especially the green variant. You may like them too.

I would say try a show quality fish that you don't see everyday... like a pair of bocourti!
