It is a bit better, but I also have an erythrinus not a hoplias specie, they hops tend to be more vicious for sure. I had wanted to grow out the heck a bit more but I was given crappy info on them from the LFS, they said I'd be fine to grow em out to 5-6 inch in a 30 ga but one died randomly. Then I checked on here and it was because they need more space so I put the other in the main tank a lil earlier then I would have liked. That's why I always double check LFS info on here haha.
It probably won't happen until the wolf is bigger, they tend to grab things too large to swallow then just tear and thrash them up. Pretty sure that's what my red did to my heckelli he was too big to swallow whole.. with wolves its kind of like a time bomb, if anything I would add some small dithers to help distract it from the Oscar
