In the process of setting a 44"x45"x21" tank but haven't decided on what I should stock it with, my options are either a Jardini or Piranhas, if I go for piranhas, I'm thinking between a shoal of caribes or a blue diamond rhom (with some small fishes i.e. neons, mollies, etc. to help him exercise a bit and serve as snacks)
any suggestions? thanks

I also think the Rhom predator/prey tank would pretty cool

I just tied the poll! I voted for the rhom/feeder. those measurements would be perfect. Have you already got this tank? Sounds like it's going to be a neat tank.

wow, so no one is voting for a shoal of caribes so far? um..interesting.
Let's keep the votes coming :D

yea, I already got the tank and it's in my basement..what a pain to move that bad boy down with only 2ppl in a narrow stairway with 180 deg. turn. but we got it down there. :headbang2

Just waiting for my FX5 (only paid ~$150 with shipping for a brand new one :nilly:) to arrive and get the gravel tested then I'm ready to setup the tank. oh and have to build a cover for it too. know anywhere I can find acrylic sheet that size cheap??

I can only imagine how hard that would have been to move with just 2 people! Is the tank custom made? Have you thought about other stocking options other than a jardini or piranhas? with a tank like that you have so many possibilities...

I bought the tank from some guy who bought it from a petco that went out of business few years ago. So I guess it's somewhat custom made. It comes with a wet/dry sump built-in at the back which I'm planning to use that as bio filter only, the FX5 will be for mechanical filtration. depends on how the water flows after I set it up, maybe add one or two power heads. the tough part will be making the cover to keep water from evaporating like crazy.
It's like a mini pond with glass panels all around, should be pretty cool. ;)

the fishes listed in my poll are the ones I am most interested in over the years. what other options would you suggest? I can look up some pics and do some research :naughty:
