Id love to have a bowfin. Im in lewes DE the winters are pretty cold. But if it was a temperature range that suits a bowfin that would be my choice.

You could fit quite a few Lepomid Sunfish in a 300g! I’d throw in as many different species as you can get your hands on, make an African-Cichlid style tank but with native Centrarchids.

Friend of mine catches them in canada, they are quite hardy

Head over to the inlet along the coast, set up a cheap low cost saltwater tank and go catch some native salty’s

Gars, Bowfin, Shovelnose Sturgeon, American freshwater croakers or freshwater drum, Paddlefish are all awesome fish that come to mind that would do well.
