Just wondering, all the people with stunning umbers, when did they start coloring up?

I have two different sets of juvi Umbee some are 3 inch and there other batch are 1 inch. The smaller batch already have way more freckling so I'm assuming they will be more colorful?

My umbee just hit 5.5 inches and I'm still waiting for him to color up.

The dorsal fin trailer is non existant as well.

Maybe a late bloomer ?

I was told they blossom at that 9-10 inch mark.

Here's mine at around 4.5" and 5.5". He has a pretty outstanding coloration for his size.

My umbee was dull looking and generaly shy i remeber when the convict pair would chase him til he got about 6" lol. Then he came around colored up started getting mean well now he's just the boss lol! The first pic is 8-10" a bit over a year old in a 125gal. Then 10-12" in a 500 gal at 2 years old. Current pics last week at 18"+ in a 500gal at just over 3 years old now.

woot woot I cant wait!!! Mine has a good fin coloration coming on and a few little spots on the body which I think is good for his size, he is already running the tank with a 3-4 inch JD pair and a choco the baby mangrove jack and him always face off though lucky theres a divider! Cant wait till he hits the 8 inch mark those pictures are amazing!

Mine was about 3.5-4 inches when the spangles really started coming on strong. As soon as you can sex them pull the best male out by himself that will help bring the color out. He will spend less time fighting and being stressed out. Once I knew what male was best I pulled the others out and his color enhanced daily. The presence of a female helps as well.
