WHAT SIZE DID YOUR UMBEE START GETTING SOME NICE COLOR

Female umbees grow crazy fast as well my wild caught female nearly kept pace with my male up until she laid eggs the first time so that really is no indicator. Just keep up with the water changes and raise the temp to 80-81 and they will grow like weeds. It won't be long until they are big enough to sex and we will help you out.

Another thing I've learned is that it usually takes 3-4 weeks for fish to settle into a new environment or to re-establish an old one. So give your umbees time. Half of my fry were spread out into multiple tanks in groups of 8-10. That usually yielded one nice male and a couple females he liked. Of course there was chasing and lost a couple that were subdominant. Basically if you leave your group alone, by the time they reach 4-5" you should get a nice pair out of them:) good luck
 
Yes that's exactly what I'll do I'm gonna remove the two female Trimacs and let the Umbee have the 135 all to them self. What do you guys like to feed them?
 
NLS for the staple and krill as a treat once and a while I feed bio gold but I am moving farther from it all the time. I feed it mostly so they don't get bored with their food

Mine eat live earthworms, ghost shrimp and massivore. Only the female eats NLS, the male hates it.

Btw they just laid eggs again :D
 
No the umbee can not catch the vatf but he does try! When the vatf was small it was risky but now the vatf is over 1' long so he is no longer on the menu.
