I have 2 90 gallon (48x18x24) tanks that when actually converted are closer to 75 gallons of water... I would think a 'standard' size would actually hold the amount of water it is advertised to hold..
One reason is that the measurements are taken outside the tank and the water volume should be calculated by the inside dimensions. That doesn't make up for the 15 gallons difference you have but it does make a difference.
