I remember when (a long time ago) I used to look at my 55 gallon and think "Wow, this is a huge tank", then last year I got my 220 and again thought "Wow this is a huge tank", then I came on here and saw all the 500+ gallon tanks on here and now I look at my tank and think "I wish my tank was bigger".

I remember when my brand new 55 was so HUGE.

Then I had a 70 and holy cow it was like HUGE and a HALF! My husband broke it, and he cried. He seriously cried as he had broken my big tank, how could I ever forgive him....

I reminded him of that the other day as we sat in the living room surrounded by 2 70's a 125 and a 210 while we were working on our DIY build for the 550. He still thinks I am mad at him.....

Monster tank syndrome grows from within. Its not a box full of water, its not a fish. Its a feeling. Its knowing what the needs of your fish are at a glance, its knowing what the parameters are with out testing the water, but testing it anyway. Its scheduling your vacations around water changes and breeding times, and growing more and more proud as each trick or treater knocks on your door and says..."Trick or....treeLOOK AT THAT FISH!!!!! Mom come here you gotta see these fish!" (I almost don't have to give out candy.)

Monster isn't the size of the tank but the fish you keep and the passion for keeping said fish. IMO a 250 gallon tank with a bajillion neon tera's isn't monster but a 40 gallon with a bunch of exodon's and waaaay overkill filtration to me is monster.

Well to me 250gal. is when it gets BIG for 250gallons is 1 ton in weight and I've checked 250x8pounds=2000pounds in saltwater its 200
^^^ My 220 weighs more than a ton. It weighs approximately 2172.75 lbs. (not counting the stand or glass since I have no idea how much they weigh, so it's probably actually around 2.5 tons).

Edit: btw, 1 gallon of water = approx. 8.35 lbs. so a barebottom 250 w/ no deco. would be about 2087.5 lbs. not counting the weight of the glass itself which would add a few hundred pounds onto that.

350 gallons is pretty damn big. Dont really realize just how big untill its on your doorstep! Once you get into the 8ft long and 3ft-4ft wide range, IMHO youre getting monster. Heres an example of scale, Im 6ft tall 215 lbs. This tank is 96x36x25
