What size sump pump? Help please.

Thanks for all the responses guys, much appreciated!

A special mention to Duane's for the detailed response, thank you.

My plan when buying this tank was to do right by Bruce (my Dovii's name 😂). I had brought a package deal and had a suspicion that the pump was not strong enough. I have just purchased a Fluvial SP4 7200 LPH pump. Hopefully it fits in the pump section of the sump. Fluvals own dimensions don't make sense as they show the length and width as being the same but it looks clearly to be a rectangular shape. I believe it must be as the second image.

Hi Guys,

Just received my 8ft X 2.6ft X 2ft tank with a 4 ft sump and it has come with a 3000lph pump. Is that big enough?

As stated by Midwater Midwater , it depends on the flow capacity your tank is already setup for -- the size of the weirs, overflows, intake pipes, sump chambers, etc. Assuming these are sufficient size, I'm thinking the speed of your pump 3000lph may not be enough. In my 8ft X 3ft x 2.5ft tank I run a Vectra L1 pump (3100gph) at 78% speed which turns out to be ~2400gph. Running the tank at a lesser speed isn't enough for my tank.

Thanks for the tag, but this is definitely not my area of expertise. Most of what I do on this end is either guesswork or mimicking what I see here lol
Probably not much I can add here other than that for juvies you don’t want too strong of flow.
