Okay, as the title states, what size tank do YOU think a fully grown MBU should be kept in?

Now, this is not a debate thread, lets save that for the Hypocrite MBU thread.... this is purely to find out what the average MFK member thinks an MBU should be kept in to be comfortable when fully mature...

So please, no flaming and no rude comments...

Too many variables.

would one start with the more common small sized MBU (2-6") and grow them out to mature CAPTIVE size or are we talking about a freshly collected and imported super giant MBU?

also is this "average MFK member" or average MFK member that has personal experience with MBU"?

Something like 96x36x30 or 96x48x30 should be plenty with the right filtration and maintenance imo. That is for life though grow out tanks are perfectly fine

Thats why i specified MATURE mbu tank size... So regardless what size you get it at, im curious what people here think its final tank size should be...

Also, what i meant by average MFK member, is just any member here on MFK that has any input regardless if you owned one before or not...

Since if we only went with prople who owned them, then this will be a very short lived thread...

So really not that many variables...

Sorry didnt mean to come off sounding rude... Just wanted to make sure there was no confusion...

-Edit-

I agree grow out tanks are fine as long as you can upgrade in time not to stunt the fish...

Just to add, I've yet to see any true monsters collected and exported, most of what I see on export/collections list are small sizes which I'm guessing would appeal to the masses and easier to ship.

^ Yeah, i doubt ANY store would want to import a 3' MBU to try and sell... most people would probably look at it, think how nice a fish it is and realize it won't fit in their tanks...

Not to mention, trying to ship a large fish would take up a lot of room, and in essence shrink profit, where as you could probably ship out 10 - 20 small MBU's in a carton that would normally fit one adult MBU in...

I've seen imports of Petrochromis BlueGiants and those would rival in size almost seeing as though they require a colony to thrive and if someone wanted them it would be done.

I think the biggest thing is the novelty behind having a puffer.
