I think that anything 300 gallons or more is a monster tank. I would love a 300, but think it wont happen. Please tell me what size tank you think is a monster.

I'm going from a 30gal to a 110 & everyone I know gawks at the 110. 110 is pretty big but not quite "monster", I don't think. 300's not bad but then you have these guys building 1000gal+ & they seem in a whole different class by themselves. Based on that & the 750 I saw last weekend I'd have to draw the line at 1000 gal.

<100 - small time hobbiest stuff.
100 - 600 = serious enthusiast / very big tank but still "it'll fit in my living room" size.
600-1000 = Giant tank status. Entry level MFK
1000+ = True MFK. These guys are building their own 'cause they don't make them that big commercially. These people are wrapping a significant part of their lives around these tanks, modifying their homes or businesses & dedicating serious funds to the projects.

Perhaps we should have a poll based on single largest tank size to see what our community averages out at?

:iagree:
I have a 265 and I don't consider it a monster. 1000gal+. Now thats a monster.

I guess it is all relative. When I think tank, I think of something on display that you can have in your house. I know there are a ton of people that have tanks/ponds outside to hold huge fish, with a viewing window. In my opinion the tank needs to be in the house or garage to be classified as a tank instead of a pond with a window. Don't get me wrong any of them would be awesome. I was more referring too something you would see in your living room or built into a wall.

I think the poll is a great idea. I have a tremendous ammount of respect for the DIY guys that dedicate tons of hours building their own tank. That is true pride in what you do and love in my opinion.
