What size tank for these monsters?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
3' bare min. IMO. 4' will be much more comfortable so if possible go with 4'. Look at it this way, as the jag and festae get closer to max size they are going to claim at least half of the tank to themselves. So that either 4x4 or 4x3. In all reality may not be enough but they will probably stay on opposite sides of the tank but will be less inclined to venture into the others turf with the larger tank resulting in less aggression. The aro will hopefully mostly be ignored and the carpintis shouldn't be perceived as a threat so it should also be fine. But no guarantees with cichlids! Good luck.

How big are these guys? How long would it take for your guys to grow to full size. If they're still juvies or young adults then there will be more than enough room, that 3' will be ALOT for a WHILE. Obviously the more room the better but unless they're huge I don't think you have to get that crazy. Unless you want to.

5-inches and up, in my experience is when many large growing cichlids can get aggressive to each other.they become mature/look for mates, dig, stake out a turf.it should help that they grew up together.what size tank in now? when will they move to the new tank?
